Renovations have been happening all around, making the camps

fitting for the exquisite surroundings they sit in.

Renovating Tafika started in February, where the main area underwent a transformation – decking has been added out front, extending under the shade of the Tamarind trees, giving breathtaking views of the vast river beyond. New thatch and décor have transformed both the interior and the exterior of the building. The rooms at Tafika now have a tented feel as the concrete and gauze have been replaced by canvas panels, which can be opened up as much or as little as you please. New decking has been added to create a private patio for each lodge, making them bigger and extending your personal outlook of the river and Zambian hills beyond. The kitchen has also undergone major changes, as is reflected in the delicious food that comes out of it.

Makombakomba has had some changes too! New decking, rethatching and remodeling of the interior of the main area, new tea stations in each room and a new kitchen interior.

Our chefs have undergone training by the renowned Tess Arkwright, who has also put together a superb 10-day menu to ensure that our clients get a lovely variety of meals during their stay. A hard day’s fishing is always rewarded by a three-course dinner – finished off with something as delicious as Rosemary and Blueberry Panna Cotta. Another setting to enjoy a meal is out in the bush - under the Albidas or on the banks of the River – it doesn’t get more idyllic than this.

The Mighty Zambezi River becomes a haven for elephants as food becomes scarce inland. Herds crossing almost daily from the Zimbabwe and Zambian banks, to and from the reed islands, is a sight that so few ever get to experience. Tucked away in this remote part of Africa, elephants crossing this wide and powerful river all in a line, trunks up like snorkels and holding each other as they battle the silent current, is a serene and awe-filled experience that will leave you enthralled as you take in the beauty of wild Africa at its finest.

The rising temperatures combined with the lower river levels are leading to great catches!

This magnificent specimen, weighing in at 15 pounds, was caught by one of our recent clients just upstream from Tafika Camp.

Tafika is now 95% percent solar powered, cutting down carbon emissions and reducing noise pollution to almost zero, making it a more eco game friendly environment. Having lights and fans all night in the summer heat make for a more comfortable sleep, while your cameras charge for a big day ahead.

We would like to thank you for your continued support over the years, whether you are a die-hard or a new visitor to Tafika Zambezi. We very much look forward to welcoming you back to the oasis of luxury in the wilderness of the Lower Zambezi.
